Every year, the Academy honours litterateurs and scholars of national repute and those from Delhi in the field of literature, criticism, poetry, humour & satire, translation, urdu journalism and performing arts such as drama, Ghazal singing etc. of Delhi for their outstanding contribution in the promotion and development of Urdu language and literature.
