Memorandum of Association of Urdu Academy : Delhi

  1. The name of the Society shall be Urdu Academy of Delhi.
  2. The Registered Office of the Society shall be CPO Building, Kashmiri Gate, Delhi-110006.
3. FUNCTIONS AND OBJECIVES OF THE SOCIETY
  • 3(i) To preserve and promote the language and literature of Urdu as an integral part of the linguistic culture of Delhi.
  • 3(ii) To encourage and publish original works of literary and academic merit and also books for children in Urdu.
  • 3(iii) To arrange translation in Urdu of literary and scientific and other works not higher to translated in urdu language.
  • 3(iv) To prepare and publish reference works in Urdu.
  • 3(v) To publish properly edited texts of Urdu literature.
  • 3(vi) To publish the so far unpublished works of merit in Urdu.
  • 3(vii) To help deserving authors of Urdu in publication their work.
  • 3(viii) To give monthly financial assistance to old and needy authors of Urdu.
  • 3(ix) To give awards to authors of Urdu works published during previous one year.
  • 3(x) To provide facilities, including financial assistance, for advanced study to Urdu scholars for specified period.
  • 3(xi) To invite eminent scholars and other persons of eminence to deliver lectures.
  • 3(xii) To organize seminars, symposia, conferences, and other gathering of an academic nature, inter-alia for discussion problems connected with Urdu in the perspective of world literary trends as also with respect to the implementation of Govt. orders regarding facilities for the teaching and use of Urdu and in pursuance of the aforesaid object to give financial assistance to various literary and cultural organizations who organize similar function.
  • 3(xiii) To bring out journals, periodicals, magazines and similar publications in Urdu of a high standard.
  • 3(xiv) To arrange for the sale of the matters published under these rules ON SUBSIDIZED RATES..
  • 3(x)(v) To acquire moveable and immovable properties in the Academy provided that in case of acquisition of immovable properties prior approval of Govt. of NCT of Delhi shall be necessary.
  • 3(x)(vi) To bring to the notice of the Govt. of NCT of Delhi the demand of the Urdu speaking people regarding the teaching and use of the Urdu including difficulties in the implementation of Govt. Orders.
  • 3(x)(vii) To do all such legal acts and take all such legal steps as per likely to advance the objects specified above.
  • 3(x)(viii) All income of the Society shall be utilized towards the promotion of aims and objectives of the Society.
